Bell Ringing Record set in La Porte

It wasn't easy to say the least....but a La Porte man set a record for bell ringing over the

weekend.

Billy Nickrand rang a bell for the annual Salvation Army kettle drive for

60 consecutive hours.

He walked away early Sunday from Kroger and slept for eight hours.

Nickrand was helped by citizens..who offered chit chat and other forms of

morale support during the very trying record breaking effort.

On a web site....Nickrand thanked the community for its assistance...

Nickrand is pastor at Door Village United Methodist Church.

Now..he says the important thing is to focus on the real reason for

the season...

Nickrand raised six thousand dollars for the salvation army during his bell ringing marathon.
