A Hamlet farmer was the victim of some curious thieves last week.

Police were called out to the 500 East block of 1025 South when a report came in of a burglary that occurred sometime the night before.

Police spoke with the property's owner who informed them that he had arrived that morning and noticed that several doors were open on his barns, steel bands used for coverts were laying on the ground and that two copper cords used to connect a gas container to a large fuel pump had been uprooted from the ground.

After a closer inspection of the barns, the man told police that his tractors' doors had also been opened and that tool boxes appeared to be tampered with; however, the only items missing were a large chain and three 50 foot extension cords.

Currently, there are no suspects.
