Purdue North Central chancellor James Dworkin does not believe the campus
near Westville will close.
However, he does undertand why Governor Daniels would look at that possibility
once he becomes president of the university.
Dworkin said he's worked for four presidents at Purdue University during his career
and all of them do things differently looking to make their own mark.
Dworkin felt the support in Northwest Indiana for having both the campuses near Westville and Hammond will influence Daniels against any decision to shut one of them down.
He said both campuses meet the needs of their respective students in many ways including
commute times and fuel expense, something that's critical for students living at home with
tight work schedules and budgets.
