Some doubt has been cast on the future of both Purdue University campuses

in northwest Indiana.

Reports indicate governor Mitch Daniels told the Northwest Indiana Times he

will examine if having two campuses 34 miles apart should continue.

Daniels takes over a president of Purdue University in January when his two terms

as governor are over.

The governor also expressed concern that the graduation rates at the Hammond

and Westville area campuses.

Between 20 and 30 percent of students at the regional campuses graduate

in six years.

At West Lafayette..he said the graduation rate is 70 percent during the same

time period.

The governor was elected by the university's board of trustees and he'll officially

take over January 14
