A retired La Porte Police officer is recovering after getting hit by a

motor vehicle on foot.

According to police....Larry Williams was at the curve where Lincolnway

and J St. come together.

He was crossing when a pick up truck making a turn struck him.

The driver.....40 year old Bryan Cooley told officers he didn't

see Williams as he was making the turn.

Williams was allowed to go home after spending several hours in the

hospital.

Williams says he's pretty sore and a bit scraped up but it could have been a lot worse....

He retired as a police officer in 1986 and later spent ten years employed at the city's
recycling department.

Williams walks almost every day to get exercise and that's what he was doing when
the accident happened.
