Four arrests have been made for the death of a former Michigan City teacher.

Charges including murder have been filed against 20 year old Ryan Phelps;

18 year old Melvin Basford; 16 year old Martell Anderson and 17 year old

Trevon Walker.

Walker is also charged in connection with the victim's car being stolen

and a police chase of that vehicle.

About 11 a.m. Thursday...police say officers were called to Peters' home on

Walker St. on Michigan City's north side and found him deceased.

The circumstances leading up to Peters' death and how he died were

not disclosed.

About three hours later, police said there was a pursuit of the victim's

car

driven by Walker, who crashed in the area of Porter and Holiday streets.

The 69 year old Peters was a retired school teacher and former officer with

the Michigan City Federation of Teachers.

Michigan City Mayor Ron Meer says the police did a great job closing the books on the

case....

Peters was also very active with the Mainstreet Theatre in Michigan City's downtown.
