Antique cars were destroyed in a garage fire outside Michigan City

over the weekend.

Before 1 p.m. Sunday....firefighters were called to U-S 20

and Meer Road.

Police say Robert Boswell was burning paper and cardboard in a barrell.

The barrell was several feet from his garage and while it was burning

went inside his home to do some cleaning.

Authorities say about one hour later....his sister pulled up and

saw the detached garage on fire.

Boswell told police inside the garage were a 1972 Volkswagon and

1964 Pontiac Catalina...along with some tools.

Boswell told police he has burned in the barrell several times before

and was not concerned leaving the blaze unattended.
