The owner of a gas station near Michigan City is accused of selling

synthetic marijuana from his store.

26 year old Amarjeet Singh was arraigned Wednesday in La Porte Circuit Court

on Class D felony dealing a synthetic drug.

He could face anywhere from a six month to three year sentence.

According to court documents, Singh on two separate occasions in June

was caught selling synthetic marijuana from Marathon, a gas station he owns

at 450 North and Johnson Rd.

Police say Singh told each of the buyers ''not to say anything about selling the

stuff.''

According to police...the synthetic drug has various names like Mr. Smiley

and Bath Salts.

The drug is represented to be incense and other types of supposedly legal

products.

People across the nation were getting seriously ill and even dying in some

cases before Indiana banned the sale of synthetic marijuana in stores.

Singh could also face an up to one year suspension of his retailer's license.
