No decisions were made last night in connection with a strip joint

being proposed in La Porte County.

The La Porte County Commissioners and Planning Commission met

in a joint session.

The purpose was to get more information and go over proposed zoning changes

that would pinpoint where such an establishment could go.

Among the speakers was Patrick Mangan, executive director of Citizens for Community

Values of Indiana.

Mangan cautioned officials not to take the request for a strip club

lightly.

He says such establishments spell trouble....in areas like lower property values

and higher crime.....

Local resident Robert Thompson says adult business owners are about

one thing....

Making money.

He says it has nothing to do with freedom of speech as the business owners

claim....

Right now....the county's ordinance bans adult establishments.

However....officials say a ban is unconstitutional so the county is trying

to craft a measure that allows them but with strict enough regulations.

Another meeting on the issue is scheduled the 20th of next month.
