Gas Theft from Michigan City Store

Even with gas prices in La Porte County lowering, thefts are still

occuring from the pump.

Police were called out last week to Next Door Foods in Michigan City when a
report came in that a customer had taken off without paying for their

Police spoke with the shop's clerk on duty who told them that a tan late
90's Chevy Suburban pulled into the gas station and a 20-30 something
year old male pumped $80.01 worth of gas before fleeing the scene.

According to the police report, a patron to the store was able to get the
suspect's license plate number which came back as belonging to a
Michigan female.

Police say they attempted to contact the owner; however, the elderly person
they spoke to claimed only to share the same last name as the owner
but had no idea who she was.

Currently, police are waiting on the Michigan Police Department to contact them
if the vehicle is found.
