A Michigan City stop and shop was the scene of an alleged inside job
robbery last week.

Police were called out to the business on the 10,000 north block of U.S.
highway 12 east when a call came in about a theft from the store.

When police arrived, they spoke to the store's manager who informed them
that an employee had allegedly called her claiming he stole $500 from
the business.

According to the police report, at around 4:30am that morning, the worker was
approached by another suspect who demanded the worker give him the
money he owed for a past debt or else he would shoot him.

The worker supposedly told his manager that he took the money from the
safe and cash register to pay the man and left the scene.

Police say a customer later contacted the store's Assistant manager and
allegedly informed her that the worker's wife arrived later that
morning to the store to return $200 of the stolen money before
leaving with her husband.

Attempts to contact the suspected worker have been unsuccessful by police.
