The University of Notre Dame generates more than two billion dollars

a year for the area economy.

That's according to a newly released study.

The money is from things like research.......capital investments and

major events.

The study shows Notre Dame also supports about 16 thousand jobs.
Just the home football games at Notre Dame are a major contributor to the local

economy.

That's according to Jack Arnett...executive director of the LaPorte County Convention &

Visitors Bureau.

He says local motels are filled for every Notre Dame football game.

Arnett says some of the visiting teams also stay at Blue Chip ........

He says the Great Lakes Grand Prix in Michigan City is the biggest local

event.

But......Arnett said a whole season of Notre Dame football games brings more money into the

local economy.
