By Stan Maddux

Two schools in Michigan City were placed on lockdown today

due to some nearby gunfire.

About 8:30 a.m....police were called to the area of 11th and

Spring streets.

Police Chief Mark Swistek says a vehicle was shot multiple

times.

Elston Middle School and St. Paul's School were placed on

lockdown as a precaution due to the gunfire occurring just a block of

two away.

Swistek did not know if the car was occupied during the

gunfire.

No arrests were reported but Swistek said witnesses and the victim

were being interviewed by detectives.
