Acts of torture on a 10-year old boy held by a dog collar around his neck in Michigan City have resulted in a teenager facing possible time in prison.

Mykel Williams, 19, of Trail Creek is charged in LaPorte Superior Court 1 with level 5 felony criminal confinement.

He could face anywhere from a one to six-year sentence.

According to Michigan City Police, the other defendant, a 16-year old boy, is charged with battery and criminal recklessness, both misdemeanors.

The younger suspect was not identified because he's charged as a juvenile.

Police said the victim on July 24 was playing in the backyard at a friend's home in the 1600 block of W. 8th St. when both suspects came over.

Williams allegedly placed a dog collar around the boy's neck.

Police said the other suspect grabbed a B.B. gun from another child in the backyard and shot the victim several times with it.

According to police, the boy told investigators every time he stood up to leave he was pulled back down by the leash on the dog collar and made to sit.

Police said his mother had just sent her other son to go out and look for the boy when he returned home sobbing.

He didn't reveal how he got away but the front of his shirt was completely ripped, police said.

Williams identified by his Chicago Bulls shirt and the red moped he fled on was talking to the other suspect when responding officers approached.

He admitted putting the collar on the boy and named the shooter, police said.
