A woman was killed and two men from the same car were seriously hurt in a collision this morning with a dump truck in LaPorte.

54 year old Sharron Zimmerman was pronounced dead at LaPorte Hospital a short time later, said LaPorte County Coroner Bob Cutler.

According LaPorte Police....she was a passenger in a 2014 Toyota Camry driven by 28-year old Nicholas Zimmerman.

The other passenger in the car was 26-year old Michael Zimmerman.

All three occupants are from South Bend and reside at the same address.

The two men were airlifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

Hospital officials listed them in critical condition this afternoon.

Police said witnesses reported the car westbound on Boyd Boulevard pulled into the path of the dump truck northbound on U.S 35.

The accident happened at 8:30 a.m. (CST).

38 year old Keith Neff was the driver of the dump truck owned by Woodruff & Sons, a construction firm out of Michigan City.

He was not injured.

According to police, Neff told investigators he had the green light and the car after stopping at the intersection pulled into his path.

Neff said he slammed on his brakes but could not avoid the collision, according to police.

Nicholas Zimmerman told investigators he could not remember what happened, police said.

LaPorte Fire Chief Andy Snyder said all three occupants of the car were extricated and two of them were unconscious when pulled from the vehicle.

Police said the accident remained under investigation.

All four lanes of U.S 35 were closed for more than one-hour.
