Help from the public is sought to try and solve a Michigan City bank robbery Tuesday afternoon.

No arrest had been made 24 hours after the hold-up, said Michigan City Police detective Anthony McClintock.

According to police, a man with a beard and sunglasses on robbed Chase Bank at 4365 S. Franklin St.

He also wore a tan colored baseball cap and carried what appeared to be a black bag out of the bank.

Police did not reveal how much money was taken or if a weapon was produced.

Nobody was injured, police said.

Officers scoured the area in search of witnesses and surveillance cameras that might reveal how the suspect fled and his last direction of travel.

Xavier Langford, a kitchen worker across the four lane highway at Chipotle Mexican Grill, said he thought a traffic stop was being made when he first saw the reflection of flashing lights from a squad car.

He then noticed several police vehicles outside the bank.

An officer then came into his workplace asking if there were any cameras pointed toward the bank.

''I asked him what happened and he said the bank got robbed,'' Langford said.
