Sentencing has been handed to a man for fatally shooting a pet donkey in LaPorte County

last year.

51 year old Olvydas Abromavieius received one year probation.

He was also ordered to pay a $2 fine.

The sentence was part of a plea agreement accepted earlier this month at the courthouse in

Michigan City.

According to police.....he shot his girlfriend's donkey ''Jack''' during a dispute at her home

on Wilhelm Road in northern LaPorte County.

The donkey was still alive but staggering around when police officers showed up.

Police say the Union Pier Michigan man had a blood alcohol level of .30-percent.

He could have received an up to 2 and a half year prison sentence.
