Michigan City Police on Tuesday were still investigating a man getting hit inside his home from one of several gunshots fired outside.

Chief Mark Swistek said the rounds Friday night came from the parking lot of Woodland East Apartments on Salem Court.

Cordell Harrington, 23, required surgery for a gunshot wound to the leg from a bullet penetrating the outside wall of his apartment, Swistek said.

Swistek said one or two other apartments were hit.

According to the police report, the back window of a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer was also shattered by the gunfire.

Swistek said no arrests had yet been made.

The police report does list three unidentified black males as suspects in the case.

Swistek said he could not reveal if anyone specific has developed as being directly involved or how many shots were fired because of the ongoing investigation.

Buddy Kasinger, public information officer for the LaPorte County Emergency Medical Service, was among the responding medics.

Kasinger said Harrington reported getting up from a couch and walking toward a bedroom to take cover from rapid gunfire.

''He said all it once the gunfire just went full blown,'' Kasinger said.
