Final approval has been given to improving safety at parks and schools in

Michigan City.

$450,000 will be spent making things safer for pedestrians.

The action comes after a girl was struck by a car and killed last year

by a motor vehicle.

She was trying to cross the street to get to Water Tower Park.

City council president Don Przybylinski says it's worth every penny

to try and prevent another tragedy.....

Safety improvements include more signage.....restriping and adding crosswalks.

The measures will be taken at parks and schools where safety needs were identified.
