The LaPorte County Symphony Orchestra will soon have a new conductor.

Phillip Bauman is stepping down when his contract ends this summer.

Officials say Bauman joined the orchestra in 1994 and is credited with

taking the group to a new level.

A farewell concert is scheduled the 5th of May.

During his tenure......among the things accomplished was the creation

of Hoosier Star.

Hoosier Star is singing competition for residents throughout the region

and downstate.......who perform to a live orchestra.
