Many areas out in the country here in Indiana don't have access to

high speed internet.

The state legislature is addressing the issue.

Providers extended broadband to more populated areas first because of

large customer bases.

But.....held off on extending broadband to some parts without

the population needed to support the cost.

Nowadays......access to broadband is a necessity and would help rural

areas compete.......in this age of technology.

State representative Jim Pressel of Rolling Prairie says it's critical to fill in those

coverage gaps...because of how the economy nowadays revolves around high speed internet.

A measure creating the framework for providing grants

to extend broadband is expected to pass before state lawmakers in 11 days

go home for the year.

Indiana Farm Bureau has broadband at the top of its priority list.
