The Salvation Army in LaPorte fell just short of its holiday fund raising goal.

106 thousand dollars was raised.

That's 25 hundred dollars short of the goal.

Justin Windell says 59 thousand dollars was the amount dropped into

the kettles.

The rest was through the mail appeal program.

Justin Windell is captain of the salvation army in LaPorte....

The kettle donations are down but giving through the mail is up....

Windell says one reason giving in the kettles was down is some people don't carry

money anymore because of debit cards.

Windell said Kmart closing last year also hurt because that was a key location for one of the kettles.
