A Michigan City area man is running for the seat now held by state representative

Scott Pelath.

Sean Fitzpatrick is a former LaPorte County deputy coroner.

The 41 year old Fitzpatrick says he wants the heroin antidote narcan in every police cruiser.

He says the legislature this year spent way too much time on Sunday alcohol sales......and not

enough on solutions to heroin and other opioids ravaging communities.

Fitzpatrick also said he's against more tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy......

He also criticized the legislature for not having its priorities right......

Fitzpatrick said the Indiana House approved loan sharks being able to triple

their interest rates....but can't pay for text book rental like 45 state already do.

He's running for the democratic nomination.

Pelath is not seeking reelection after holding that seat for 20 years
