A crackdown on drinking and snowmobiling was held recently

in southern LaPorte County.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources headed up the

effort over the weekend.

And two people were arrested.

In the Westville area.....authorities say a group of snowmobilers

fled....but one was captured in a field when surrounded by officers from

multiple agencies.

38 year old Matthew Clark of Valparaiso was charged with operating while

intoxicated and other counts.

Also in the Westville area.....officers encountered a man who had just

struck a road sign.

27 year old Virgil Goin of Portage was also arrested for driving a snowmobile

drunk.

The crackdown came a few weeks after a man was seriously hurt

when he drove a snowmobile into a ditch in southern LaPorte County.
