Police are still investigating to see if a suspect in one of the recent smash and

grab burglaries was responsible for any of the other ones.

41-year old Erodney Coffey is charged with stealing 35 cartons of cigarettes from

Family Express In Pinola after breaking the glass.

And...the same night....breaking the glass at A & A Petroleum in Westville.

Police say he didn't go inside there after an alarm went off.

LaPorte County Police chief deputy Ron Heeg says investigators here are still working

detectives in Porter County and Berrien County Michigan to see if Coffey is connected to the

others.....

Ironically....the smash and grab spree began on the 17th day of December...the same day

he was released from prison.'

The Gary man had served time at Westville Correctional facility for burglaries in

Lake County.

Authorities say cigarettes, alcohol and money were taken in the smash and grabs.
