bill would eliminate two townships from LP County

There will be fewer townships in Indiana if some lawmakers have their

way.

Under a proposal......Dewey and Hanna Township here in LaPorte County would go by the

way of the dinosaur.

And so would Davis and Jackson townships in Starke County.

Just over 300 townships statewide would be eliminated.

Those targeted are ones with 1200 people or less.

The bill has been earmarked as a top priority for republicans during

the 2018 legislation session which is just beginning.
