airport hangar hit by suspected drunk driver

Police say a car struck a building at the LaPorte airport last night.

The 74 year old driver was allegedly intoxicated.

According to police....the car was northbound in the southbound lane

of State Road 39....Cars were backing up because of drivers trying to avoid

wrong way driver.....

Police say one of the drivers passing her noticed the wayward driver

was her grandmother.

Soon....the car slid off the two lane highway and sideswiped one of the

airport hangar buildings.

Police say Mary Lilley admitted drinking a pint of whiskey and revealed

she was heading to the liquor store.

She was arrested with an alleged blood alcohol level more than two times the

legal limit.

Lilley who's from the Union Mills area was not hurt.
