LaPorte County Police officers will soon be wearing body cameras.

A 79 thousand dollar state grant will be used to fund part of the cost.

Sheriff John Boyd says body cameras will help both the police and

public.....

It'll also take some of the guess work out of what transpires during

calls.....

Boyd says he's looking to acquire 50 body cameras.

He has some discretionary funds in the sheriff's office to go toward the

remainder of the cost for software and storage.

He's hoping to have them in use in about six months.
