A La Porte County Police officer quite possibly saved a life.

Yesterday.....police say deputy Aaron Wells pulled over a driver

for speeding on U.S 421 just south of Michigan City.

The 65 year old driver was turning blue and not able to speak.

She was choking on a honey mustard peanut.

So...the officer got her out of the car and applied the Heimlich maneuver

which cleared her airway....

The woman was looked over by paramedics but refused medical attention.

Deputy Wells is new to the sheriff's office after recently graduating from

the police academy.
