A suspected armed burglar had his initial hearing in LaPorte Circuit Court today.

Charles Appleberry could face significant prison time charged with two major felonies.

The 26 year old man was allegedly inside a pole barn on 900 South near Union Mills

last Friday.

He had a physical encounter with the property owner....

Police say both men were armed...and the victim fired a warning shot after

Appleberry took off running.

Appleberry is a suspect in as many as 100 theft related crimes over the past six months.

No charges for any of those cases have been filed yet.

LaPorte County Police Capt. Mike Kellems says it could take awhile before that could happen

given the number of cases....

He could face anywhere from a 10 to 30 year sentence just on the most serious

charge.
