Police are investigating how a man discovered passed out at a gas station near Michigan City

wound up with a severe head injury.

Early Saturday...emergency responders were called to Speedway at U.S 20 and U.S 35.

54 year old Raymond Lane was unconscious then after coming to......went to use the

men's room.

Accordng to police....he was found in a stall.....with blood dripping from his head and he had extreme

difficulty standing.

He wound up being airlifted to a hospital in South Bend with a skull fracture and bleeding on the

brain.

Police say Lane reported being hit on the head by a man while loading wood in Gary......

then was seen driving erratically into the gas station parking lot.

Lane is from Hammond but why he drove out this way was not known.

According to police...he had been drinking but was not legally intoxicated.
