A LaPorte City Councilman is expressing concerns about an auto parts store

chain planning to go up here.

O'Reilly Auto Parts wants to build next to the American Legion on E. Lincolnway.

Many believe the lot is too cramped......and the development could have

a negative impact on the American Legion.

Councilman Tim Stabosz says he doesn't support the project as it's

drawn up right now....

The zoning board approved the plans last week.

The city council is expected to begin taking up the matter at its

meeting October 2nd.

Stabosz also said  the Walgreens on E. Lincolnway is an example of

how a building should be constructed.

He says it's not too close to the roadway...the lot is not too small.and

aesthetically it's just right.....

He went to say any new building should resemble the buildings downtown

so it's an asset to the city...not an eyesore...
