There's some controversy involving the American Legion post in LaPorte.

O'Reilly Auto Parts want to build a store right beside the post along

Lincolnway at Holcomb St.

The board of zoning approved the plans last week.

Members of the post protested the decision before the city council

last night.

Members say the lot is too small to build the store....and the building

would seriously restrict the view of drivers pulling out of the

American Legion post.

Some city council members agreed.....

Mayor Mark Krentz emphasized not final decisions have been made

on the plans by the auto parts store chain.

He said the matter will be heard again during a public hearing

at the October 2nd meeting of the city council.
