A man accused of drunk driving in LaPorte doesn't remember being hit by a

train.

That's according to police....who are pursuing charges because of his

alleged high blood alcohol level.

33 year old Robert Arrowsmith turned from a parking lot onto the

rails.....Saturday morning on Washington St...near Detroit.

It wasn't long until a freight train hit his car.....

Witnesses say it didn't appear that he even tried to get out.

Emergency responders used the jaws of life to free him from the

wreckage.

He then walked to the ambulance.

While speaking to investigators...police say Arrowsmith claimed having

no recollection of being hit by the train.

The train was doing about 40 miles per hour at the time of impact and

was pulling 130 cars all containing coal.
