Panhandling in LaPorte could result in being thrown in the slammer.
Friday night....police were called to Wings Etc. because of a man asking
customers for money.
32 year old David Coffin was advised to stop then later police were
called back for the same activity.
Another complaint then came in about Coffin allegedly asking a customer for money outside
J & J''s liquor store.
Police say other complaints of panhandling were made the past few
months at the Marathon station on E. Lincolnway.
A warrant is being sought to charge Coffin with panhandling...a Class C
misdemeanor.
He could face up to 60 days in jail and a maximum 500 dollar fine.
