A man arguing with a woman fatally shot himself inside a restaurant in Trail Creek on Wednesday.
That's according to LaPorte County Police, who still had not released the name of the man on Thursday.
Trail Creek Police about 5:30 p.m. were called to a domestic disturbance at Mama Sue's Restaurant in the Evergreen Plaza along U.S 20.
Town Marshal Steve Dick happened to be nearby while off-duty and responded to find the woman exiting the restaurant then confronted the man still inside between the customer seating area and kitchen.
Dick ordered the man to show his hands, but the man stepped out of sight behind a wall and shot himself, police said.
Police did not release further details.
Memo Dominguez said he was working at his family owned Memo's House of Pancakes just a short distance from where the shooting occurred.
Dominguez said he saw alot of police vehicles but didn't know what happened until later.
''I never expected that from over there. I was just hoping everybody was ok,'' he said.
