It's called marijuana wax and it's so new the first very powerful batch, perhaps, has hit the LaPorte streets.
The honey like substance made by using butane to extract THC from marijuana was found in a vehicle stopped Tuesday night for having a bad headlight.
Nicholas Crum, 18, was booked into the LaPorte County Jail and two 17-year old boys riding with him were taken to the LaPorte County Juvenile Services Center for possession of marijuana.
According to police, an officer in the parking lot of LaPorte High School about 10 p.m. saw a car go by with a headlight out.
During a traffic stop, the hands of the 17-year old driver were shaking and an odor of marijuana was detected by the officer who ordered everyone out of the vehicle.
Police said marijuana was inside a jar recovered from the vehicle.
According to experts, the wax is made with butane drawing the THC out of the marijuana buds.
The process, though, has resulted in some explosions in different parts of the country.
Experts say the wax is smoked or vaporized and being 100-percent THC is known to cause hallucinations.
